The Orange Julius Incident
Sometimes, you just need to try.
Freddy turned to the cute brunette behind him in line at Orange Julius.
“Could I get you?”
The girl looked him up and down.
“Can you get me?”
“Ya…Like could I get you, well, not you, I mean could I pay for your order?”
Her eyes sparkled at the extension of generosity.
“Sure,” she said with a smile, stepping up next to Freddy at the counter.
“I’m Freddy.”
“Thank you, Freddy. I’ll take a large strawberry Julius and um… hold on let me double check real quick.” She fished out her phone and pulled up her text messages, “And uhhh…My boyfriend will take an extra-large Orange Julius.”
The cashier smirked at Freddy, “That’ll be $20.04.”
“Thanks again, Freddy!” bubbled the brunette as she spun and walked to the pick-up counter.
Freddy turned back to the cashier and fished $25 out of his wallet.
“Sometimes, you gotta try, right?” Freddy said sheepishly.
“Ya, and sometimes you fail, lose twenty bucks, and pay for the girl to have a good time with someone else,” replied the cashier dryly.
Freddy stared back at him for a beat.
“Well, that was just unnecessary. Keep the change.”
